Whose Rules Are You Following, Anyway?

There’s an invisible rulebook, isn't there?

The one that gets handed to us somewhere along the way.

Be helpful. Be available. Stay busy. Don't be difficult.

We learned to follow the rules so well that the rulebook became a part of us. For years, maybe decades, we measured our worth by how much we could do for others, how full our calendars were, how smoothly we could keep everything running.

It was our armor and, in many ways, our identity.

We were reliable.

But what if the most rebellious, most sacred act you can perform right now is to set the book down?

To look at that endless, invisible list of "shoulds" and gently, deliberately, say, "No more." Not with anger, but with the quiet clarity of someone who is finally choosing herself.

Take a breath and ask: Who gave me this rulebook? And why do I still carry it?

When you stop following the old rules, you don’t fall into chaos. You fall into yourself.

You discover a rhythm that is yours alone, one that isn’t dictated by external urgency or obligation, but by your own internal wisdom and peace.

This is where your true authority has been waiting for you.

The rules were never the point. You are.
